History

Keller Williams Capital Properties was founded in 2006 by Bo Menkiti, Brandon Green, Carlos Garcia, Jason Martin, and Joel Nelson who envisioned a real estate brokerage founded upon a culture of collaboration and mutual success. They chose the Keller Williams platform because of its culture of service and unique focus on education, technology, and wealth-building. Capital Properties is a portfolio company within the Menkiti Group family of companies and is operated by the Menkiti Group.

Bo Menkiti, Chief Executive Officer
Bo Menkiti serves as the Founder and CEO of Keller Williams Capital Properties. He is also the CEO of The Menkiti Group, a real estate services firm focused on strengthening neighborhoods through the strategic development, management, and sale of real estate in urban markets. The Menkiti Group operates Keller Williams Capital Properties.

Prior to forming Keller Williams Capital Properties and The Menkiti Group, Bo served as Chief Operating Officer of College Summit, a national non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the college enrollment rate of low-income students. In this capacity, Bo oversaw the organization’s successful growth into a multi-site national organization.

Bo’s work has been featured in David Bornstein’s book on social entrepreneurs How to Change the World, and in Stephen Goldsmith’s The Power of Social Innovation. He has been recognized nationally by Ebony and Inc. Magazine as one of the coolest young entrepreneurs in America, and was awarded The National Association of Realtors Prestigious “30 under 30” award in 2006. Bo was also honored as Minority Business Leader by the Washington Business Journal and by the National Association of Realtors as the District of Columbia Realtor of the Year in 2014.

In 2015, Keller Williams Realty honored Bo Menkiti as the 2015 ‘Entrepreneur of the Year.’ Bo was also recognized by the Washington Business Journal as a 40 under 40 honoree.

Committed to serving communities and transforming neighborhoods by serving on civic and public service organizations, Bo has been on the boards of the District of Columbia Association of Realtors, and DC Water, the water and sewer authority of the District of Columbia. He is a current board member for City First Bank of DC and Dance Place, and serves as a member of the Steering Committee of the Small Business Policy Project.

Bo is a graduate of Harvard University and lives in Washington D.C. with his wife and three young sons.

Brandon Green, Managing Partner

Brandon Green is the Managing Partner of Keller Williams Capital Properties. Brandon manages the regional operations of the brokerage, including organizational strategy, corporate growth, and leadership development.

Brandon began his real estate career in 2001 as an agent, selling $12 million in real estate in his first year in the business. In 2004 he founded Brandon Green Residential, a nationally ranked sales team responsible for selling hundreds of millions of dollars in real estate across the Washington, D.C. area.

In 2006, Brandon co-founded the Keller Williams Capital Properties brokerage as Principal Broker along with CEO Bo Menkiti and partners Carlos Garcia, Jason Martin and Joel Nelson. Brandon became Managing Director of Capital Properties’ flagship D.C. office in 2011, which he managed until the fall of 2014 when he assumed the role of Managing Partner for the entire organization. Under Brandon’s leadership the Washington, D.C. office seized the No. 1 slot in office unit market share in Washington, D.C. and has been widely praised for its productivity and unique culture.

Brandon is an expert in the local real estate market, is a nationally top-listed real estate executive, and an industry leader across North America. Perhaps what makes Brandon most unique is his ability to access both creative and structured thinking, and his mind, body, soul approach to leadership and development – with a history of results to back him up. The real estate business is the vehicle through which Brandon, for more than a decade, has impacted and transformed countless lives, careers, organizations, neighborhoods, and communities.

Amber Cummer, Operations Manager

As Operations Manager at Keller Williams Capital Properties, Amber is responsible for supporting the Managing Partner in the creation of administrative and systemic practices to ensure consistency across all KWCP Market Centers. Amber manages logistics and operations for KWCP, helping make current Market Centers more efficient and ensuring new Market Centers benefit from existing Keller Williams Capital Properties processes and systems. Amber works with the Executive Team on strategic communications and oversees event coordination.

Amber has been working in the real estate industry since 2005, most recently as the Director of Client Engagement for MG Residential, and prior to that, she was the Director of Operations at Brandon Green Residential.

Joe Martin, Lead Market Center Administrator

Joe is responsible for supporting, coaching and training our Market Center Administrators. Joe’s expertise of Keller Williams’ systems and processes ensure our Market Center staff is trained to deliver world-class service.

Joe also provides financial oversight for all of the Keller Williams Capital Properties market centers.

Jennifer Motruk, Director, Corporate Marketing & Communications

As a member of the corporate Operations team, Jennifer works directly with the Vice President & General Counsel and business unit leaders of The Menkiti Group and of Keller Williams Capital Properties, overseeing general marketing strategy, branding and messaging, events, and outreach and engagement.

Prior to joining the team, Jennifer consulted for a variety of clients from across the region in restaurant/hospitality, A/E/C, arts and culture, and professional service sectors. Most recently she was the VP of Marketing and Communications for Washington, DC-based Farmers Restaurant Group/Founding Farmers and related concepts. Prior to that in-house role, Jennifer was the Founder/Principal of JML marketing + communications, an IMC agency that provided expert marketing and branding guidance to high profile food and beverage concepts, real estate and A/E/C groups, professional services firms, and arts and cultural organizations. Her initial A/E/C and development experience came as Director of Marketing for award-winning CORE architecture + design, where she supported business development and proposal wins for notable base building, mixed-use, restaurant, and retail projects.

Jennifer has resided in the greater Washington, D.C. area for more than 20 years, after relocating from Baltimore, where she earned her B.A. in art history and arts management from UMBC. She served as a Board Member and Chairwoman of the Board of Washington Project for the Arts, and remains an avid collector and supporter of regional fine artists. She has taught in the Master of Professional Studies Marketing-PR and Corporate Communications program at Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies.

Frank Manley, Agent Technology Driver

Frank Manley has been a licensed real estate agent in Washington, DC since 2008, after moving to the area from his hometown of Palm Beach, Florida where he held his Florida real estate license since 1997. He also owned and operated a home rehab and construction company until 2007, and developed a reputation as a luxury residential rehabber and home builder, with projects published in several national and local publications.

Coming to real estate from a military background and having been an ongoing owner of several small businesses, including an iconic cafe on the island of Palm Beach, Frank approaches the real estate business from the perspective of a disciplined, strategic entrepreneur. His area of specialty is online lead generation with an emphasis on social media and the KW technology tools.

He currently teaches classes on the KW technology tools, online lead generation, and social media business strategies to Keller Williams Capital Properties agents throughout DC. Frank takes pride in having built a system and a program that is multi-faceted and fully capable of keeping agents up to date on the leading trends of the digital world.

Frank is committed to helping us all run and grow our businesses more effectively through technology. He will work with agents to utilize the KW tools and to connect with new and ever-changing approaches to servicing our clients. Frank has a unique combination of business, real estate, and technology experience and we are excited to have him join our leadership team.

Melinda McNabb, Compliance Administrator

Melinda is responsible for ensuring that the various paperwork involved in a real estate transaction is readily available to our agents to easily write contracts and that those written transactions are available and complete in our brokerage files.

Melinda has been working with Keller Williams Capital Properties since 2009 and thrives on providing premiere class support to our agents as well as all market center staff and leadership.

Michelle Johnston, Compliance Support

Michelle joined the Keller Williams Capital Properties team in 2016 and assists our compliance department to ensure that all transactions are complete and properly filed.

Rod Rochowiak, Executive Director, Agent Concierge Services

After a successful career in college recruiting for EDS/GM and Ernst & Young, Rod left the human resources/consulting field to pursue his love of real estate.

Through his real estate connections, he accepted an offer as a charter employee to open a new real estate brokerage company, EYA Urban Properties, affiliate of local builder/developer, Eakin/Youngentob Associates (EYA).  During his 5 year tenure, he worked in various sales and management capacities.

After receiving his broker license, he served as managing broker of EYA Urban Properties and as Principal Broker for Urban Pace, builder sales and marketing.  Due to his consulting background and solid foundation and knowledge of brokerage operations, Rod was invited by a private investment group to open a new brokerage, Stages Premier.  Within a few short years, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate invited Rod to open the first real estate franchise office in a major US city on the East Coast.

In his personal life, Rod enjoys a healthy lifestyle with a focus on nutrition and strength training.  Travel is his life’s ultimate pleasure especially beach destinations.

Katie Rose, Concierge Manager, Agent Concierge Services

Katie brings two decades of customer service experience to the Agent Concierge Service team. Her first career was in intensive care nursing before she decided to follow her heart and go to pastry school. A true lover of artisan bread and crème brûlée, she worked with a nationally awarded cater company before launching her own full-service event planning company. This diverse background has given her a unique expertise in being sales and client-focused while also obsessed with minutiae and the ability to remain calm in the midst of chaotic situations.

Katie is passionate about the local DC community and can often be found volunteering. She spent two years serving as Vice President for the Capital Area Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and three years as Chair for their Events Committee. She continues to serve as the Annual Gala Chair for New Endeavors by Women and on the gala committees for organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign, SMYAL, and Central Union Mission.

As the mother of two boys, Katie spends her off time debating superheroes and acting as Wrestling Team Mom. She enjoys the theatre and can often be caught singing show tunes in her office. She is an avid reader and completely addicted to strong coffee and dark chocolate. She loves bold red wines and believes there is always a reason for champagne!
